Boy kills dad with sledgehammer because of keyboard

April 16th, 2010

We’ve seen crazy news about kids and kids at heart getting all addicted over video games just like this fellow WoW Gamer beats up Mom over gaming noise but this one is probably tops it all. According to News.com.au, A 14-YEAR-OLD kid in Southern Russia smashed his dad with a sledgehammer while sleeping after taking away his keyboard because of too much gaming.

Sledgehammer

Be sure to keep your Sledgehammer where your kids cant find it :D

The unnamed boy in the coastal town of Tuapse, located by the Black Sea in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region, bludgeoned his father to death while he lay sleeping, regional investigators said. Now that’s a very gruesome death at the hands of your own kid, I think he played too much mature games.

“At around 1am (local time) on April 12, the suspect dealt his sleeping father at least two blows on the head with a sledgehammer,” the region’s investigative committee said.

“The man died on the spot from a head injury. From News.com.au

After the killing, the boy’s frightened mother gave him the keyboard back and the boy played computer games for several more hours until he fell asleep, the spokeswoman said.

Too bad for him, under Russian Law at age 14 he can be charged with Murder. Bye bye gaming and hello prison. Seriously, this is a sad sad news for the gaming community, for sure authorities will blame video games again for this crazy kid’s insane  act.

Kid spent £900 on FarmVille using Mom’s Credit Card

April 14th, 2010

FarmvilleWe all know that Facebook is the newest addiction by the youth right now especially with their browser based games like Farmville winning the hearts of non-gamers and the like. According to the Guardian.co.uk, A woman, who prefers to remain anonymous, discovered last month that her son had spent more than £900 on FarmVille. He had emptied his own savings account of £288 and had used her credit card to the tune of £625 to pay the bills.

The mother attempted to get her money back, however the game’s publisher, Zynga, refused to reverse the charges, stating that the boy lived within her home. Instead, the company suggested that she use password protection on her computers in order to prevent further problems.

The actual credit card company–HSBC–said she would qualify for a refund only if she reported her son to the police and obtained the crime number.

The amount spent was around £900 or around $1400. Facebook disabled the boy’s account.

I would have totally understand if this kid spent his money on games like World of Warcraft but Farmville? If this boy was smart enough, he should have spent that money on a PS3, Xbox 360 or a Gaming Rig.
