Eco Friendly Run 2010

June 30th, 2010

Held at Mall of Asia, Pasay City on June 27, 2010. Participates from all around Metro Manila gathered to support the Eco Friendly Run sponsored by Ace Hardware and Davies Paints for the benefit of SM’s Save the Mangrove project. The race was somewhat badly organized with problems starting with the actual route distance. Runners with pedometers measure the 5k route for only 4.2-4.3 km (10k route around 8.7) while the 3k route is actually 3.9-4 km. The finish line was in Chaos when runners finishing their respective routes came pouring in to surrender their bib numbers to the Race marshalls. Another complaint of some participants was the race refreshments were only water which isn’t even cold and the big “Baggage counter FAIL”. For me, it wasn’t all that bad considering me and my friends were late for about 20 mins. We still had fun even with the major problems that plagued the Eco Friendly Run. Here are some photos from the event:

3 days of gaming goodness had just pass at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2010. This year, E3 was better than ever, with new games and hardware being announced with Sony and Microsoft leading the way with their new hardwares. Here’s a quick recap of big things that you shouldn’t miss!

Microsoft biggest bomb this year at E3 is the newest Xbox 360 Model commonly called Slim or Xbox 360 S. The redesigned console is slimmer than the previous Xbox 360 model and features integrated 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, TOSLINK S/PDIF optical audio output, a 250 GB hard drive, 5 USB 2.0 ports (compared to the 3 from older versions) and a special AUX port

Microsoft also announced its newest Game input device called Kinect a.k.a. Project Natal. An add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, it enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller through a natural user interface using gestures, spoken commands, or presented objects and images.

Sony wouldn’t let this year’s E3 get dominated by Microsoft and for sure they weren’t left behind the dark with their big announcement of the Playstation Move, an upcoming motion-sensing game controller platform for the PlayStation 3 which is based on a handheld motion controller wand, PlayStation Move uses the PlayStation Eye camera to track the wand’s position, and inertial sensors in the wand to detect its motion.

Mortal Kombat: Rebirth

June 10th, 2010

A short-film directed by Kevin Tancharoen with fight choreography by Larnell Stovall. Based on the Mortal Kombat series of fighting games, the short-film “actually was made by the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film.

This short film really looks badass and even though its story is somewhat is far from the story of the original game, this will be definitely a great movie.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is out

June 10th, 2010

Metal Gear fans, time to grab your dusty PSP’s and bring life again into it, Kojima is back with another Metal Gear Solid game. Naked Snake is back in this direct sequel to Metal Gear Solid 3 and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and from the looks of it, this game is almost on par with MGS4. The development team that worked on Peace Walker is as large as the team that worked on Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and is also the first game in the series for a portable platform to be directed by series’ creator Hideo Kojima. Available only for the PSP, it is one of the best looking PSP games I had ever saw.

From initial reviews across the net, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is almost near perfect, IGN.com giving it a 9.5/10, 1up.com giving it an A- and PSM3 awarded the game 91. It was given a perfect score of 40/40 by Japanese Gaming Magazine Weekly Famitsu.

If you’re a Metal Gear fan, you definitely don’t wanna skip this one.
