Good news to us Cyclists! According to this article from Inquirer.net, Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago mandates the Department of Transportation and Communication to set up safe biking programs in cities and towns by constructing or maintaining bicycle lanes, parking and support facilities. If this would be properly implemented, a lot of Pinoy’s that are using their bicycle everyday to commute to work would be safer on the road and more Filipino will be encouraged to use bike’s as an alternate mode of transportation especially nowadays where price of fuels is rocketing. It’s also a great way to exercise aside from avoiding traffic which is a everyday sight in the Metro.
MANILA, Philippines—With oil companies jacking up prices nearly every week, Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago, in a fresh pitch for biking as a healthy alternative to driving or commuting, has filed a bill seeking to make cities and towns friendly to bikers by putting up the necessary infrastructure.
